Keeping Your Hands Young and Soft

We use our hands every single day for almost every activity we involve ourselves in. They’re hard workers. Show them some love with these simple tips!

1.  Wear protective sunscreen. Our hands are exposed just as much as our faces are, and sunspots will start to dull the complexion if we don’t take care of them.

2.  Wear dishwashing gloves. If you’re going to be doing any excessive scrubbing and rinsing under running water, it’s a good idea to wear protective gloves. Overexposure to running water and dishwashing detergents can dry out your hands, gradually aging them and toughening the skin.

3.  Wear gloves when you workout. If you lift weights frequently, you may notice callouses that result from a firm grip and constant chafing against the metal weights. Now, there’s no reason to stop working out just because of a few callouses. Purchase a pair of weight lifting gloves and continue to build that fab physique without sacrificing soft hands.

4.  Exfoliate! Exfoliating your hands removes the dead skin cells and buildup of dirt and oil that accumulates. Try this simple DIY scrub at home: Mix 2 TBSP granulated sugar and 2 TBSP coconut or extra virgin olive oil. Once the oil has saturated the sugar, rub the mixture all over your hands and arms. Massage for a couple of minutes, rinse off and pat dry. Follow with your favorite hand cream. The gritty texture of the sugar removes dead skin cells while the oil penetrates into the pores and moisturizes your skin. It is best to use this scrub before bed as it’ll be sure to relax you and your hands will have ample time to soak in the benefits as they won’t be doing much while you’re sleeping!
