Dark orange and yellow fruits and vegetables have beta-carotene which gets converted to vitamin A in the body. Vitamin A is important for the production of essential oils in a healthy scalp and when the body lacks this vitamin, the result is a more itchy scalp with noticeable dandruff. Some popular fruits and vegetables that contain vitamin A are: sweet potatoes, pumpkins, carrots, yellow apples and tomatoes, pineapples, cantaloupes, and tangerines.
